  • Common questions about our Tisanes

A tisane is an herbal infusion made from botanicals like flowers, roots, fruits, or spices. Unlike true tea, it does not come from the Camellia Sinensis plant.

No — all of our tisanes are 100% caffeine-free because they’re made from botanicals rather than the tea plant. Some plants that are sometimes grouped with tisanes do have caffeine such as Yerba Mate.

Most tisanes brew best at near-boiling water (205–212°F) for 5–10 minutes. Roots and barks (like ginger or rooibos) benefit from longer steeping, while delicate flowers brew quickly. Using a slightly higher leaf-to-water ratio brings out fuller flavor, especially for iced tisanes.

Yes — many tisanes make exceptional iced drinks. Hibiscus, rosehips, lemongrass, and mint all cold-brew beautifully, producing bright flavor without bitterness. For iced brewing, use double the leaf to maintain flavor after chilling or adding ice.
