Organics

About half of our teas are organic. We maintain USDA Organic Certification at our packaging facility in Kansas City, and prefer to buy Certified Organic leaves where possible.

In short, it means that everyone who touches the tea, from the growers to the packers has to be certified according to the USDA Organic Standard.

This involves stringent record keeping and annual 3rd party inspections, along with unannounced and periodic lab testing of tea to ensure that standards are maintained.

Yes. Many of our loose teas are designed for multiple infusions. Re-steeping is especially encouraged for oolong, black, and pu’er styles. Sachets are typically single-use.

It depends on the tea. Caffeine levels vary by style, cultivar, and how you brew it—steep time, temperature, and ratio all matter.

Packaging & Materials

Our sachets are made from PLA—a plant-based bioplastic that’s compostable in industrial facilities, not at home.

Learn more in our blog post: Yes, Our Tea Bags Are Plastic.

We prioritize material safety and flavor clarity. PLA sachets don’t shed fibers or flavor, and they hold up better for full-leaf tea.

All our bags and tins are food-safe and packed in our USDA Organic Certified facility. We use resealable pouches with high-barrier liners to protect against oxygen and light.

We only offer matcha in 80g tins made from recycled steel—and that’s intentional. At 2 grams per serving, each tin yields around 40 servings, which we consider a practical bulk size. Larger bags expose matcha to more air, light, and heat with every use—leading to faster loss of flavor, color, and nutritional value. Our steel tins are airtight, stackable, and designed to keep matcha fresh from the first scoop to the last. We have a whole blog post about this you can read here.
