- 5 grams of ZI RAN RED black tea
- 20 grams (.5oz) maple syrup
- 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1/2" sliver of fresh orange
Dose 5 grams ZI RAN RED into a teapot. Pour 135 grams (4.5 oz) of 207ºF (97ºC) water over tea, and let steep for 2-3 minutes.
Do so.
Add 20 grams (.5oz) maple syrup, 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters, and a couple handfuls of ice to tea.
Stir thoroughly until well chilled.
Pour into a 6 oz rocks glass or coupe glass.
Peel a 1/2" sliver of fresh orange, taking care not to get any white pith. Squeeze in half over the drink to spritz oils, rim the glass with the peel, and drop in. Serve.
Black tea is the most consumed tea in the world, defined by its full oxidation process that transforms fresh leaves into a rich, copper-colored drink with deep flavor. Its production involves withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying, with some teas undergoing light roasting to refine aroma and add subtle notes. Learn more about black tea in our article here.
